The reason that Mind Springs Health came up with the idea to open up a new detox center in Glenwood Springs has to do with a large number of patients brought to emergency rooms in the area that struggle with alcohol and drug dependency.

In fact, over the last few years, it has been reported by Mind Springs that roughly 44% of emergency room visits in the area were a direct result of substance abuse and 75% were due to alcohol dependency.

What Will the New Detox Center in Glenwood Springs Offer?

Detoxing from alcohol and drugs is not only extremely uncomfortable for individuals suffering from dependency but withdrawal symptoms can often be extremely dangerous if not lethal for those that have to experience them.

The new detox center will help individuals safely detox from drugs and alcohol in a setting dedicated to the process. In addition, the facility will be open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to help individuals suffering from this type of situation.

Funding the New Detox Center in Glenwood Springs

The decision to follow through with opening the new detox center in Glenwood Springs was largely decided upon due to the securing of sufficient funding. The city of Glenwood Springs has committed to supplying $200,000 toward the new facility and the city of Rifle has committed $40,000.

While a concrete opening date has yet to be announced, the detox center is expected to open its doors in 2023.
