Grand Junction lost their most inspiring resident early this morning. With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to Delaney Clements after she lost her battle with cancer.

Delaney's mother share the news on her Facebook page early Monday morning (March 21) asking the community to respect their privacy as they mourn the loss of their daughter.

13-year-old Delaney Clements was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 8. Since then, she’s been undergoing treatment and now she’s expected to go into hospice care.

Since then, Delaney stole the hearts of every Grand Junction resident as she showed her strength and resilience battling a deadly disease.

She started Delaney Donates, a non-profit organization that according to their website "supports local families who have been impacted by one of the many forms of cancers among children and adults."

Delaney was also a huge fan of Taylor Swift, and in December 2015, the Grand Junction community came together to make one of her life wishes come true. A social campaign -- #DelaneyMeetTaylor -- kicked off with the hope to make Delaney's dream of meeting Taylor Swift come true. It worked. Just before Christmas, Taylor Swift came to Grand Junction to spend time with her biggest fan.

Delaney will always be remembered as an inspiration for Grand Junction and everyone who is battling cancer, and those who are affected by cancer.

Rest easy Delaney, you will be missed.
