Colorado Wants These Words & Phrases Put Back Into Everyday Use

If you grew up in the 1970s, you probably watched a ton of Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Do you remember hearing the expression "Heavens to Murgatroyd"? We have Snagglepuss to thank for that one. Little kids on every school playground in the nation used that phrase to express disbelief or astonishment.

Out of Date But Still Useful (Kind of Like Me)

What about "Hullabaloo"? To my mind, that was a late 1960s television program featuring go-go dancers in fringy little outfits. The Merriam-Webster dictionary, on the other hand, defines Hullabaloo as "a loud, continued noise or mixture of noises" or "a state of commotion, excitement, or violent disturbance." Take your pick.

Cheech & Chong or Spongebob?

Heather C. suggested "Mother of Pearl." Sometimes spoken as "Holy Mother of Pearl," this was a popular phrase with some cliques back in the 70s and early 80s. It came back around in the 2000s. Depending on your age, you can credit either Cheech & Chong or Spongebob Squarepants for this one.

Great Phrases We Could Certainly Use Again
