A Colorado street which some would say has an offensive name may be getting a name change.

A petition drive is underway in Colorado Springs to change Trump Avenue to Immigrant Way.

The street name has nothing to do with the man living in the White House -these houses were built in the 50s and 60s. But, there is a fear among some of the people that visitors will think the street is named after President Donald Trump.

The online petition calls Trump a racist for describing Mexican immigrants as "bringing drugs. They bringing crime. They're racist."

Trump Avenue is not the main thoroughfare in any way. It's a short residential street with about a dozen houses. It looks like very few people would ever have any reason to use the street.

Still, the street is 'guilty by association' and may get its name legally changed. The signatures will be presented to the Colorado Springs city council. If the effort fails with the council, the aim will be to get the issue on the 2020 election ballot and let the city's residents decide if they want to change the name of Trump Avenue.
