18-year-old Fruita Monument High School graduate Cuba Bess could be the next big catch with the Colorado Rockies. The MLB team drafted Bess with their 39th pick.

"I was just really happy and very humbled for the opportunity," said Bess. He says he is looking forward to the experience and all the knowledge he would be learning along the way if he signs with the Rockies.

There hasn't been a draft pick from FMHS since 1998, with Bess being the 5th overall pick in the high school's history. Bess was also honored Player of the Year through the 2016 Southwestern League.

Bess has 30 days to decide if he will sign with the Colorado Rockies or attend Grand Canyon University.
