A negative COVID-19 test has become part of your entry to many concerts, work events, and schools. Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced a new at-home COVID-19 testing program.

The state of Colorado has bought 2 million Binax rapid tests which can be delivered to your doorstep. Each Coloradoan is entitled to eight free tests. The tests should show results in about 15 minutes.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, "this program has been specifically designed to provide parents, guardians, and caregivers some peace of mind by making it easy to test their children and help keep schools open."

You can order your COVID-19 at-home tests on the CDHPE website. It will take about four to six days to receive them.

The at-home tests are in addition to the more than 100 free community testing sites across Colorado. Most of those sites require an appointment and insurance is not required.

Keep in mind that over-the-counter test results may not be accepted as proof of negative results for some situations. It's important to read the fine print of what tests are approved.

The Colorado Governor said “it’s an extra security level to identify any infection earlier and identify if it’s indeed COVID, to take that extra step and protect yourself and others.”
