Tuesday marked a big day for Central High School’s softball team. In addition to an 8-1 win over Fruita Monument, the Warriors also clinched the league title and has a shot at hosting one of eight regional tournaments.

Head coach Scott Else told KKCO Channel 11:

It's a big win. They came out and jumped on them early and played great defense, which has been our thing all year: to play defense. So it was a great win."

Tuesday’s win is the 12th straight win for Central. The Warriors have one more regular season game scheduled for Thursday against Montrose.

Softball playoffs are scheduled to begin October 11.
