A Beloved Choice City Restaurant is Set to Close: Fort Collins Residents React
Canino's Italian Restaurant has sat in a historic home on College Avenue since 1976. Its hearty Italian cuisine, charming atmosphere, and beloved owner, Clyde Canino, have made it a Fort Collins staple.
Now, the end of an era has come.
Rumors about Canino's retirement began to bubble on social media, and on Wednesday (Aug. 3), the Coloradoan confirmed the news: Fort Collins' iconic eatery will close by the end of 2022.
For many, the restaurant was an anniversary destination. For others, it was a place to connect with friends over a bowl of spaghetti and a glass of wine. Regardless, the locale holds a special place in the Choice City.

We took to local online groups to see the impact of the news. Here's how Fort Collins residents are reacting to the closure of Canino's Italian Restaurant:
37 years ago hubby & I went on our first date to Canino's after watching Back to the Future at the Aggie. It's the end of an era for Ft. Collins.
— Patty C.
We celebrated countless birthdays and anniversarys at his restaurant! Canino's will be missed!
— Barbara B.
45 years ago my husband proposed to me at Canino's.
— Nancy R.
Sad to hear Canino's is closing. Clyde deserves some free time and relaxation!
— Holly H.
This is sad news. Greate service, great food, great old house, great memories.
— Joel S.
Canino's has not announced a closing date, so patrons still have time to enjoy their favorite Italian restaurant. Thankfully, the famous house will remain intact — the building is a historical landmark.
