Firefighters are expecting quite the challenge on Friday (Sept. 25) in the fight against the Cameron Peak Fire.

A red flag warning has been instituted with strong winds, low humidity and plenty of dry fuels expected. Firefighters will continue to work on the fire in areas that it is safe to do so.

Wildfire smoke in surrounding areas is expected to be elevated on Friday.

The latest official update has the fire at 104,845 acres and 27% containment. The fire grew about 50 acres from Thursday morning to the evening.

More than 800 firefighters are currently battling the flames.
