Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Martin Walsh are taking part in an event to help bring the 2024 summer Olympics to Boston.

Patrick and Walsh are scheduled to attend a gathering Monday evening at the Blazing Paddles bar to honor Massachusetts Olympians and Paralympians.

Former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan is among more than 30 athletes with Massachusetts ties set to attend. The Boston 2024 Partnership, a privately funded organization that's developing the proposal, is organizing the event.

It will be the first time Patrick and Walsh have participated jointly in efforts to generate public interest in an Olympics bid.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is weighing whether to put in a bid for the 2024 Summer Games. Among the potential cities are Boston, Los Angeles, Washington and San Francisco.
