Alexi Lalas is following the World Cup from ESPN to Fox.

Fox said Tuesday the former U.S. defender is joining the network as a studio and game commentator. Lalas was ESPN's lead studio analyst for the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Fox won the rights to future World Cups starting with next year's women's tournament. Lalas will work that event, along with coverage including European Champions League, Major League Soccer and U.S. national team matches.

Fox added former U.S. and current Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel last week.

Lalas became one of the most recognizable faces of American soccer during the 1994 World Cup on home soil.
